Monday Morning Reflections

Good Morning Everyone,

It is a joy to greet you and share some spiritual truth with you one last time. I say that because after 12 years of doing Monday Morning Newsletters, this will be my final one to all of you. It is time for a change in my life and with carrying a large load here at the church, I just need a break for a while.

Having said that, Sunday was a good day at South Flint. Andrew and the Praise Team did a great job leading worship, and my favorites this week were: "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "You Never Let Go," and "Your Name." Alan DeVoe shared a beautiful special we all know and love, "No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus." My message was entitled "Undivided Loyalty" and was taken from Matthew Chapter 19. It is the story of the rich young ruler and sadly the wrong decision he made.

Here are some truths from the message:

1. This young man loved God, but not with all his heart.

2. It is good to have the things money can buy, provided we do not lose the things that money cannot buy.

3. We must remove everything that stands between God's perfect will for our lives because that will keep us out of heaven.

4. The highest kind of obedience is not based on a desire for reward or fear of punishment - it must be based on love.

5. We must give Jesus everything, no strings attached.

6. Who then can be saved? The one who holds nothing back and gives their all to the Lord.

We closed the service by singing the hymn "More Love to Thee" and some came to the altar to pray about things in their life. I hope you have a wonderful week. Thanks to those of you who have been reading my ramblings for 12 years. Keep in contact and when the Lord returns for His children let's meet at Jesus' feet. That's my plan.

Always Expecting God's Best, Pastor Don Frey
